**CIGAL Reference Manual, Chapter 2 (Commands): INITIALIZE** ===== INITIALIZE -- Select and initialize devices ===== **usage: initialize [device params]** INITIALIZE is used to select and activate internal and peripheral hardware devices. When called with no arguments, INITIALIZE prints out a list of the devices available. INITIALIZE with a named device argument attempts to allocate and initialize the requested device if it is available. The PARAMS arguments following the DEVICE name allow you to specify initialization options. The meaning of the PARAMS is device-dependent. If it is unsuccessful, INITIALIZE returns a negative value in R0 to help identify the error (see individual device for error codes).\\ If successful, INITIALIZE may set the CIGAL internal variable UNIT. See HARDWARE for a description of hardware devices supported by CIGAL. **See Also:**\\ DEVICES(1), UNIT(4) CIGAL Home, CIGAL Manual, Commands List, Manual Help
