• The BIAC cluster has a separate password from your BIAC Windows account.
• If you do not already have an account, see Requesting a Cluster Account.
• Password requirements
  • Minimum length is 8 characters
  • Must contain at least 3 of the following character classes (uppercase, lowercase, digit, symbol)
  • Must be changed at least every 180 days (same interval as your BIAC Windows account)
• Use the passwd command on the head node (hugin) to change your cluster password.
• If you try to change your password on one of the nodes, you will get the following error, because of the read-only filesystem that the cluster nodes use.

passwords are automatically sync'd every 10 minutes

• Once you change your password on the head node, there could be a slight delay before the new password takes effect for interactive sessions.
• Passwords are automatically sync'd across all cluster nodes every 10 minutes. If you find that your new password doesn't work immediately, please continue to use the old password, or wait for the sync.
• If you've forgotten your password you can email help@biac.duke.edu to request a reset.
