Hardware device connections at BIAC-5 3T (750) scanner

BIAC5 3T -- Darwin computer

Darwin is our primary stimulus presentation computer. It is usually connected to the monitor on the left.
Darwin has the following peripheral hardware connected:

  • Keyboard, video, and mouse connected to KVM video switch (CPU 1)
  • Second monitor video output connected to KVM switch (CPU 4)
  • Stereo sound output to audio switch boxes (CPU1 - switch 1)
  • NeuroScan 4-button response box via E-Prime SRbox (COM1: 19200 baud, 8 bits, no parity)
  • GE scanner cardiac/respiratory cable (COM3)
  • Serial cable to Kulpe computer (COM2: 56K baud, 8 bits)
  • Serial cable to KVM video switch (COM4)
  • Current Design 8-button serial response device (USB keyboard device, default mode)
    • button box mode: “HHSC-2×4-C” response box
    • button mode : “HID NAR 12345” (003)
      • must check this mode if power is cycled to the interface
  • MagConcepts Joystick (USB Gaming device)
  • Measurement Computing Analog/Digital data acquisition device (USB-1208FS, dev=0, 8 a/d chans)
    • connected to USB hub with external power.
    • to reset AD device, cycle power on the hub.
  • E-Prime dongle connected to USB port
  • Scanner trigger cable connected via SRbox (code=16), and MeasComp analog (ch 5) and digital (B0)
  • Scanner trigger is also connected to the MCC counter pin (CTR), this would show up as a number increase NOT a positive pulse
  • Biopac belt respiratory signal connected as MeasComp analog input (ch 0, w/ 1Kohm resistor)
  • Biopac cardiac signal connected as MeasComp analog input (pulse ch3, OxSat ch4), biopac analog ( o2 ch3, pulse wave ch7, pulse rate ch9)
  • BioPac GSR signal connected as MeasComp analog input (ch 1)
  • BioPac EGG signal connected as MeasComp analog input (ch 2)
  • Measurement Computing Box, DigPort-A0 Output to Analog Ch6 In, to BioPac Analog 8 input
  • Measurement Computing Box, DigPort-A1 Output to Analog Ch7 In

BIAC5 3T -- Kulpe computer

Kulpe is our accesory computer. It is usually connected to the monitor on the right.
Kulpe has the following peripheral hardware connected:

  • Keyboard, video, and mouse connected to KVM video switch (CPU 2)
  • BioPac communication (RJ45) cable
  • Serial cable to Darwin computer (COM1)

BIAC5 3T -- Other devices

  • DVD player, video output connected to KVM switch (CPU 3)
  • DVD player, sound connected to Audio switch (DVD - switch 3)
  • Stereo sound jack for I-pod, MP3, etc connected to Audio switch (Aux - switch 4)
