fScan Reference Manual, Chapter 4 (Variables): prevwin

$Prevwin -- names associated with the previous active window

usage:
$prevwin - the logical name of the previous window
$prevwin2 - the filename for the previous window
$prevwin3 - the display name for the previous window
$prevwin4 - the directory containing the previous window data file
etc.

PREVWIN is the name of the data set in the previous active window. Adding a number at the end of the variable name let's you choose what portion or form of the data set name you want. The same naming convention applies to all filename variables and is listed in detail in the description for $thiswin.

Note: the current and previous active data sets are indicated in the status lines at the top of the main fScan control window during an interactive session.
