Wireless Neworking

Duke Health Enterprise (DHE) and Duke University maintain separate wireless networks. BIAC is part of DHE. DHE's wireless infrastructure is maintained by DHTS. Duke's wireless network is mainainted by OIT.

DHE Wireless Networks

  • diamonds - Secured internal network for faculty, staff and student use. Uses WPA and requires authentication using either AD credentials or a pre-shared key (PSK).
  • guest - Unsecured network for patients, visitors and guests. Not to be used for normal BIAC business.
  • dumcwlan and dumcwpa - Legacy networks that were discontinued on February 1, 2009.

How to connect to the secured wireless network

  • Generic information
    • Network Name (SSID): diamonds
    • Authentication: WPA
    • Encryption: TKIP
    • EAP Type: Protected EAP (PEAP)
      • Trusted Root Certification Authority: Equifax Secure Certificate Authority
      • Authentication Method: Secured Password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
        • You will need to supply your DHE EAD username and password.

How to connect to the unsecured guest wireless network

  • Generic information
    • Network Name (SSID): guest
    • Authentication: None
    • Encryption: None
    • Once connected, open a browser. You will be prompted to accept a certificate and agree to the usage guidelines.
