-**Problem:** CIGAL starts but hangs indefinitely during device initialization
-**Cause:** The problem is likely caused by an external device being in an unusable state. The Measurement Computing analog/digital USB device sometimes has this problem (seems to depend on what the previous user of that device was doing).
-**Solution:** Unplugging and then replugging the USB cable to the device is the simplest solution.
-If that does not work, then powering down and then restarting your computer should help (power down first, don't just reboot).
-**Note:** At the BIAC scanners the USB device is located in the scanner equipment room. On both scanners the USB cable is labelled "MC USB".\\
-BIAC3: Find the cable marked "MC USB" where it enters the black A/D connection box, sitting on top of the PC computer rack at the far end of the equipment room.\\
-BIAC5: Find the cable marked "MC USB" where it enters the black multi-USB connector box, sitting on the floor behind the PC computer rack just inside the door in the equipment room.
