CIGAL Reference Manual, Chapter 1 (Topics): background configuring_cigal

Configuring CIGAL for background recording

To run CIGAL in the background you can either use the Settings menu to configure the devices you need and set the physio channels and triggering options you want, or you can use the automated configuration option available in:
Settings → Configure Background Physio

The automated configuration option will copy 3 files to your current folder. They are:

  • CIGAL_Physio - a CIGAL start shortcut; double click it to run CIGAL in background mode
  • physioconfig.imp - the device configuration file; will be used when start with the Physio shortcut
  • cigalsettings.imp - the parameter configuration file; will be used whenever you start CIGAL in this folder

You will be prompted to restart CIGAL to make use of these new settings files.

Once you have the CIGAL_Physio shortcut, use it to start CIGAL whenever you want to run in the background. It uses less memory and loads the “Physio” pull-down menu for displaying and collecting data.

Dual screen feature - If you have your desktop configured for 2 monitors, CIGAL_Physio will automatically run on the secondary monitor and will provide real-time display feedback while recording physiological data. If your desktop configuration only has 1 monitor, CIGAL_Physio will start on that screen with a smaller window and will not display feedback while recording data.
