ShowPlay Reference Manual, Chapter 2 (Running): startscan

Start Scan

At this point ShowPlay is waiting for a start signal. Normally starting the scanner will trigger showplay, so at this point you would press 'W' to wait and starting the scanner will start the paradigm. If you are not scanning, any key press will start showplay.

If you are using the 'W' function to wait for the scanner, you should always watch the screen and make sure you see the 'Counting Disdaqs' message as soon as the scanner starts. This indicates that scanner has correctly triggered the start of the paradigm.

Note: because of a bug in the Windows version of CIGAL you cannot abort a paradigm if it is waiting for the scanner. Therefore if you want to wait for the scanner you must currently first press the 'w' key to put it into the wait mode. If the scanner never starts, or if the cable between the scanner and the PC is disconnected, CIGAL will hang up. So don't press 'w' unless you are ready to start scanning.
