Global variables
Global fScan variables are always defined. They can be character strings or numbers.

| hostname | Name of host (if network connected) |

| margins | Window horizontal and vertical margins |
| overwrite | File overwrite control flag |

| prevwin | The name of the previous window |
| quitStr | Interactive commands to execute when fScan terminates |
| showpanes | Number of vertical panes in Tiled display mode |
| showzoom | Default window zoom factor |
| subjectdir | The name of the current subject directory |
| subjectname | The name of the current subject |
| thisevents | The name of the current events |
| thispdigm | The name of the current pdigm file |
| thiswin | The name of the current window |
Note: Some string variables can be modified by adding a number after the name. See Thiswin for an example of how to use such number modifiers to see the data variable in different formats.
